Asking for Help

“Just ask for some help. You’ve got nothing to lose”.

This is probably the most difficult post I’ve written so far. Anyone who knows me will know that asking for help is not something that comes easily to me, and often I will be too stubborn to admit I need it. I’m proud of my independence and like to think of myself as pretty self-sufficient, but at some point asking for a little help is the only solution.

If you’ve been following the blog so far, you’ll know that I’m currently training as a Yoga Teacher; something I’ve wanted to do for years. I’m thoroughly enjoying the challenges this training is presenting me with and am working hard to balance my day job, creative projects and part-time teacher training. I’ve been very fortunate to find a studio who have a part-time programme to fit around my busy lifestyle and allow me to pay the fees in instalments throughout the course. However, nothing in life is ever straightforward and due to circumstances beyond my control, the pennies just won’t stretch far enough.

I was stressing out last week about how on earth I’ll be able to raise the money to continue my training; picking up every available shift at my day job and putting all creative projects on hold, when a friend sat me down and simply said; “Just ask for some help. You’ve got nothing to lose”I hadn’t considered it this way (as usual I was determined to find the solution all by myself), but they were right – I have nothing to lose and everything to gain by asking for a little help. And that’s where you come in (I hope!) …

I have started a fundraising page on Go Fund Me to raise the £250 I need to continue my training course in Bulgaria this June. This is a really nerve-wracking thing to put out into the world, but in this situation my options are limited. So I’m humbly asking the universe for a little help and hopefully through the generosity of friends, family and readers of this blog, I can raise the course fee and complete my yoga teacher training.

Every person who donates will receive a personal thank you and will be notified in detail of how the funds will be spent. All London-based donators will be invited to a free yoga class this summer, so I can say thank you in person for your generosity. If you are able to donate anything, (no matter how much or little), I can’t say how much it would be appreciated.
